VFW BINGO
Gordonsville V.F.W. will have bingo every Thursday (July 7) beginning at 7 p.m. The jackpot is $1,000 and the progressive game is $2,000.

INDIANA JONES!
Indiana Jones Film Festival will be held Aug. 7, 8 and 9. All movies begin at dusk or about 8:20 p.m. and are held in Taylor Park, Main Street, Orange. The Arts Alive! Season is sponsored by Orange Downtown Alliance, The Arts Center in Orange and in part by the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Films are “Raiders of the Lost Ark” on Aug. 7; “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” Aug. 8 and on Aug. 9 “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” will be shown on the big screen at Taylor Park. Bring a lawn chair, refreshments will be offered for sale; wear your feodora and get free popcorn.

BOOK SALE
Huge book sale benefiting Orange Volunteer Fire Department and Orange County Library continues Thursday-Saturday, Aug. 7-9 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Orange Fairgrounds, Routes 15/20 intersection.

LOW SQUARE DANCE
The Lake of the Woods Square Dance Club will host a plus-level dance Friday, Aug. 8 in the LOW Woods Center from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Jesse Shackelford will be the caller and dress is casual. Price is $5 per person for non-members. Aug. 22 is a potluck invitational sponsored by the club and anyone interested in learning to square dance is invited to the lower level of the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse. ANGEL FOOD

VOTER REGISTRATION
The Lake of the Woods Democratic Women’s Club will be conducting a non-partisan voter registration drive every Friday (Aug. 8, 15, 22 and 29) during the month of August from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you are new to the area, or if you are not currently registered to vote, please stop by to ensure that one of your most treasured rights as an American, the right to vote for your elected officials and have a voice in your government, is secured. This is a non-partisan event and is open to everyone.

DISABILITY AWARENESS/ISSUES
A regional gathering covering Madison, Orange and Rappahannock counties-inviting interested persons who have concerns for individuals with physical or sensory disabilities will be held Aug. 12 from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Taylor Education Administration Complex (former Prospect Heights Middle School) 200 Dailey Drive, Orange. TENNIS NIGHT
Wednesdays (Aug. 13) is men’s community tennis night and the purpose of this night is to get people out playing and try to get some of the more experienced players working with novice players. You can come out and just hit around or play a match; whoever shows can play, it’s free. Bring a can of tennis balls with you; we want to get the community involved with tennis again. BELMONT HORSE SHOW
Saturday, Aug. 16 at 9 a.m. the 68th annual Belmont Horse Show will be held at the show-grounds, one mile west on Rt. 612, from Rt. 522 approximately 11 miles north of Mineral and 23 miles south of Culpeper; rain-date is Aug. 23. No horse or pony may enter the grounds without proof of negative Coggins test within past 12 months; all pets must be on a leash. Admission is $7 adults and children 12 and under $3. EMT-B COURSE
The Orange County Rescue Squad will be holding an Emergency Medical Technician class at Rescue Station #23, 151 Berry Hill Road, Orange with classes beginning Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. and final exam around Feb. 3. RRCSB-AAA VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The Protective Money Management Volunteer Program of Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services Board/Area Agency on Aging is looking for volunteers in Orange County to assist seniors and clients of the agency with financial management. This program assists senior citizens and clients with limited income who may be having difficulty paying bills or managing their finances. The Protective Money Management Program is sponsored in part by AARP. Volunteer money managers are carefully selected, trained and monitored. Each volunteer is paired with a client who needs assistance with financial affairs. JM MUSEUM BOOK SALE
The James Madison Museum annual book sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 7 from 12-5 p.m. in the Hall of Agriculture. There will be a wonderful selection of new books because of the generosity of MPS, which will be sold at 10 percent of the cover price. We also invite you to donate any used books you no longer need to the sale; they may be brought to the museum any time during regular museum hours prior to the sale. GOLF TOURNAMENT
Participants in the Louisa Chamber of Commerce’s third annual “Day on the Greens” captain’s choice golf tournament will have numerous opportunities to win on Friday, Sept. 12. The lucky golfer who gets a hole-in-one at designated holes can win a car donated by Kip Killmon Ford or an ATV contributed by Piedmont Power Sports. The tournament will be held at Tanyard Country Club in the town of Louisa. The day will begin with registration and a putting contest at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon. Tee-off will begin at 1 p.m. The day will conclude with dinner and a presentation of prizes. The entry fee remains at $320 per four-person team and includes green and cart fees, prizes, lunch, dinner and beverages. All entry fees are non-refundable unless the event is canceled. Flights will be determined the day of the tournament. Deadline to register for participation in or sponsorship of the tournament is Friday, Aug. 29. USTA TOURNAMENT
The Culpeper Sport and Racquet Club will host men’s and women’s 4.0 USTA sanctioned singles and doubles tournament Sept. 12-14. TRI-COUNTY TRACK MEET
On Saturday, Sept. 13 from 8 a.m. to 12-noon at Culpeper County High School the 2008 Tri-County Track Meet will be held. This event is open to all residents of Orange, Culpeper and Madison counties from ages four to 79. TRAPPER EDUCATION CLASS
A Trapper Education Class will be held Sept. 21 from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the residence of Ed Crebbs, 175 Waldrop Road, Gordonsville.
