Locust Grove Elementary School:
Ms. Wayne’s first grade class performed their first Reader’s Theater.
Orange County High School:
The Orange County High School Band will be traveling to Myrtle Beach April 7-9 to perform.
24 Math Competition:
24 Math is a game where cards are provided with four numbers on them.  Individuals then use addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division to come up with an answer that equals 24.  The 24 Math Tournament was held at the end of February at the Taylor Education Administration Complex.  Seventy-two third through eighth grade students from every elementary and middle school in the county competed in this competition.  Twelve of the students went on to compete in the State 24 Math Tournament held at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond in March.  The following are the students who competed at the state level:
Caleb Clenney, Locust Grove Elementary School; Tyler King, Locust Grove Middle School; Tanner Kelson, Locust Grove Middle School; Kaylan Davis, Lightfoot Elementary School; Rebecca Graves, Orange Elementary School; Brock Warner, Orange Elementary School; Seth Winkler, Prospect Heights Middle School; Hope Leonard, Prospect Heights Middle School; Veronica Blankenbaker, Prospect Heights Middle School; Hannah Mawyer, Prospect Heights Middle School; Kendall Bayless, Gordon-Barbour Elementary School; and Alex Roberts, Gordon-Barbour Elementary School.
Two of our students, Tyler King and Hope Leonard, received gold medals at the state tournament.  More information about math, math games and the competition is available at 222.24game.com.
