BLOOD DRIVE
Orange Community Blood Drive will be Thursday, March 20 at Orange Baptist Church, 123 West Main St. from 2-7 p.m. Please give the gift of life.

BAKE SALE
A bake sale will be Friday, March 21 from 2 p.m. - until in front of Gordonsville Medical Pharmacy to benefit the Christian Women’s Fellowship of Gordonsville Christian Church. Homemade baked goods–great for Easter.

FRENCH CLASSES
Traveling this summer? Need to refresh your grasp of another language? Always wanted to learn a new language? BAKE SALE
The Orange Senior Center will have a bake sale Friday, March 21 at Food Lion from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

BLUEGRASS/GOSPEL MUSIC
Friday, March 21 from 7-10 p.m. the public is invited to enjoy an evening of bluegrass and gospel music at the clubhouse next to Waugh’s off Route 20 in Orange. Come for the fun and music or bring your bluegrass instruments and play. Open to all individuals and groups. Please call Pete at 854-7468 to schedule your group to play. Contributions go to area children groups.

EASTER EGG HUNT
An Easter egg hunt will be held for age groups birth to 4 year olds and 5 to 10 year olds Saturday, March 22 at 2 p.m. behind Orange Elementary School sponsored by Orange County Youth Council. Please bring your own basket.

V.F.W. DANCE
A V.F.W. Dance will be Saturday, March 22, from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. at V.F.W. Post 7638 in Gordonsville; Spellbound Band will provide the music. Cost is $8 single/$15 couple; B.Y.O.B. and coolers. For more details call 540-832-2439.

TEE-BALL REGISTRATION
Tee-Ball registration at Booster Park for boys and girls ages 4-7 (player age determined by age as of April 30, 2008). Signups will be held Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m. to 12-noon and Tuesday, March 25 from 6-7 p.m. No fee to Orange County residents and all games to be played at Booster Park. SHELTERING ARMS FUNDRAISER
Make the children in your life happy on Easter morning, March 23 and win them an Easter basket. Sheltering Arms is currently holding a fundraiser raffle for two beautiful baskets filled with goodies. The first basket has a Spiderman theme and the second was made for your princess. Each basket is valued at more than $50. Tickets are available for a small donation at Sheltering Arms.
FREE CLINIC
The Orange County Free Clinic, a nonprofit community-based program with an all-volunteer medical staff, provides primary health care and limited dental services to citizens of Orange County with low incomes who are uninsured or underinsured. In addition to medical and dental care, medication assistance is also available through an on-site representative from Rappahannock-Rapidan Medication Assistance Program. The clinic is open every Tuesday, between 5-7 p.m. and is located in the Orange County Health Department Building at 450 N. Madison Road. Call 672-0793 for more information.

YOUNG AT HEART CLUB
The Young at Heart Club meets every Wednesday, March 26 of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at East Orange Ruritan Building at the intersection of Routes 20 and 522. BLOOD DRIVE
The American Red Cross in conjunction with PBM Products and The Village at Gordon House will sponsor a community blood drive Thursday, March 27 from 12-noon to 6 p.m. The event, created to celebrate the 17th birthday of area resident Miriam Curry, will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 34 West Baker Street (High and West Baker Streets), Gordonsville. The blood drive is open to the public.

HISTORIC BUS TOUR
Historic Bus Tour of Orange County hosted by Frank Walker will depart from Lake of the Woods Clubhouse lower parking lot March 28 at 8:30 a.m. The tour concludes at 5 p.m. Cost is $70 ($65 for FoWB members). For more information, go to: http://www.fowb.org.

LOW DANCE CLUB
The Lake of the Woods Square Dance Club will be dancing March 28 at the lower level of Lake of the Woods Clubhouse, Locust Grove. Jesse Shackelford will be calling and Ozzie Ostland will cue the round dances. This dance is a VASARDA red, white and blue themed dance. The dance hours will be from 7:30 to 10 p.m. LOW Square Dance Club dances at the plus level the second, fourth and fifth Friday of each month. We invite all square dancers to join us. LITTLE LEAGUE GOLF
TOURNAMENT
The 5th Annual Gordonsville Little League Golf Tournament will be held at Shenandoah Crossing Golf Course on Friday, April 4, 2008. (Rain date: Friday, April 11.) The four-man team, captain’s choice tournament will be held as a fundraiser, with all proceeds going towards improving baseball and girls softball to more than 175 Orange County kids ages 5 to 17. Cost is $240 per team, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.Interested teams should contact Larry Bond at (540) 661-0106, and should enter the tournament before March 28.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Orange County Habitat for Humanity is having their annual Big Band Dinner-Dance fundraiser at Lake of the Woods Clubhouse Saturday, March 29. An elegant dinner will be served followed by dancing to music of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s played by The Big Band of Fredericksburg. Tickets are $50 per person, limited to 150 people; tables of 10, $500 or patron tables $500 each. MARCH OF DIMES YARD SALE
A yard sale for March of Dimes will be at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church Saturday, March 29. Proceeds benefit March of Dimes efforts to find the cause of premature births. There will be lots of fun and goodwill, as well as face-painting and activities for the young. Join us bright and early; until 2 p.m.

FLEA MARKET/CRAFT EVENT
Lioness flea market and craft event March 29 at Locust Grove Middle School from 8 a.m. to noon. Bake sale, book sale and food concession; to reserve a space call 972-5398. All proceeds support benevolence fund of Lake of the Woods Lionesses.

PRAYER BREAKFAST
The Women’s Ministry, Ladies Fellowship Society, of Little Zion Baptist Church (the Rev. Marion Wilkerson, pastor) cordially invites you to our first prayer breakfast Saturday, March 29 at 9 a.m. The Rev. ART CLASSES FOR KIDS
Saturday, March 29, is the next scheduled Free Saturday Art Class for Kids at The Arts Center in Orange. Participants must call 672-7311 to register for the class that begins at 10 a.m. for ages 5-8 and 11 a.m. for ages 9-12. (Pre-K kids are welcome at the 10 a.m. class with an adult.) Thanks to March sponsors, the Giannini family, for underwriting this wonderful opportunity for kids in the community to come and have fun and explore the artist in each of them.

BENEFIT BINGO
The Rapidan Volunteer Fire Department will host Vera Bradley Bingo to benefit Sheltering Arms, the homeless shelter in Orange on Sunday, March 30, at the firehouse bingo hall with doors opening at 1 p.m. and first game starting at 2 p.m. Food will be available to purchase and there will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and more. LANDOWNERS ASSOCIATION
The Piedmont Landowners Association meets Monday, March 31, at 7 p.m. at Madison County Cooperative Extension Office. The speaker is Greg Wichelns, Director of Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation Service, who will give an overview of the various services that his office provides to assist landowners in their stewardship of land and streams. CSWCD TO MEET
The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors March meeting is at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Blue Ridge Café, Rt. 29, Greene County. The monthly meetings are on the first Tuesday of each month with meeting locations rotating alphabetically through the five counties served, Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock.

BVFD SUPPORT GROUP
Barboursville Volunteer Fire Department will start a new Support Group April 1, at 6 p.m. Want to be a part of the fire department but don’t want to run emergency calls, then this is for you. ORCHESTRA AT CCHS
Remember the old mellow dance tunes? The ones that made couples swing and sway? You can hear them again on Thursday, April 3, when the Harry James Orchestra comes to Culpeper. SPRING RUMMAGE SALE
The Woman’s Club of Orange will have a Spring Rummage Sale at St. Thomas Episcopal Parish Hall Saturday, April 5, from 8 a.m. to 12-noon.

RURITAN YARD SALE
The East Orange Ruritan Club is having a huge yard sale Saturday, April 5, starting at approximately 6 a.m., at the Ruritan Building, intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 522. For information about spaces call 854-5026.
LONGABERGER BASKET BINGO
On Saturday, April 5 at Gordonsville Fire Hall there will be Longaberger Basket Bingo with doors opening at 5 and games beginning at 6 p.m.; tickets are $20 advance or $25 at the door. Proceeds benefit American Cancer Society, Relay for Life. OCC&B CONCERTS
“The Sounds of Spring,” a musical offering, will be presented April 5-6 by the Orange Community Chorus and Band. The Community Chorus is directed by Al Packard and accompanied by Barbara Packard. Choral selections will include traditional American selections. The Community Band will present musical selections for the concert band as well as traditional marches. The band is directed by Bob Hamrick. The Saturday, April 5 performance will be at Lake of the Woods Church at 7 p.m. and the Sunday, April 6 concert at Orange County High School Auditorium at 4 p.m. Both concerts are free, however a free-will donation will be accepted at Sunday’s concert.

DAR BUS TRIP
The Susannah Chandler Chapter, DAR, is hosting a bus trip to Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, April 9. We will leave the Lake of the Woods lower parking lot at 8:15 a.m. and return around 4 p.m. The cost per person is $53; this includes the bus, admission to Mt. Vernon and lunch at the Mt. SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC
The Orange County Humane Society is coordinating a spay/neuter run to the Harrisonburg Spay/Neuter Clinic on Friday, April 11. Animals will be transported from Orange, left overnight and returned to Orange County Animal Shelter parking lot April 12 at 8:30 a.m. Cat neuters are $40; dog neuters and cat spays are $60 and dog spays are $70 regardless of pet size. Rabies shots will be $8 and given to all pets who do not have proof of a current vaccination. Reservations are required to get your pet on this transport; call Orange County Humane Society’s voicemail at 540-672-0069 to reserve a place for your pet. Leave message and your call will be returned promptly.

DAR TO MEET
The Montpelier Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at Madison Presbyterian Church. A $6 brunch reservation check needs to be received by the chapter treasurer by April 5. The program, “My Trip to Normandy,” will be presented by chapter member, Cornelia Koeppel.

MOTHERS OF PRESCHOOLERS
Are you a teen Mom? Have you heard of teen MOPS? We are planning a new Teen Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group in Orange.
