ODA welcomes Air National Guard Band Saturday

The Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains is stationed at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base near Knoxville, Tenn. The band is the official musical ambassador for the Tennessee Air National Guard. Concerts typically include traditional concert band pieces, military marches, patriotic selections, jazz, rock and country western selections.

A performance by the Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains will be held at the Robertson Memorial Foundation Plaza, 122 Short Street, Orange, next to Orange Train Depot on June 28 at 7 p.m.
The Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains is located at McGhee-Tyson Air Base near Knoxville, Tennessee. The band is the official musical ambassador for the Tennessee Air National Guard. The commander and conductor of the Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains is Captain Roger Mills.
The mission of the band is to support military and civilian functions, to perform at activities involving Department of Defense community relations projects and to support local Air Force and Air National Guard recruiting.
The Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains has performed for the Air Force Thunderbirds, the Navy Blue Angels, numerous Governors’ inaugural ceremonies, as well as civilian and military performances in over 30 states, Jamaica, Peru and the Dominican Republic.
The musicians are excited about the opportunity to perform together, and take great pride in their ability to offer a wide variety of musical programming. Concerts typically include: traditional concert band pieces, military marches, patriotic selections, rock, jazz and country/western selections.
The event is a collaboration of the Orange Downtown Alliance and the Celebrate Orange Committee. Come out with a lawn chair or picnic blanket and enjoy the show. Grilled hot dogs and refreshments will be available for purchase. Proceeds of the food sales will be used to support the Picnic in the Park Independence Day Celebration at Booster Park on July 5.
