County honors V. Rae Jones

Recently, Orange County officials expressed their deep appreciation to V. Rea Jones for his service on the Rapidan Service Authority (RSA) and to the county citizens. Jones was awarded with an official resolution by the Orange County Board of Supervisors stating, “V. Rae Jones has at all times demonstrated a keen interest in the welfare of his community and the people he has served; and has left and indelible mark on Orange County by his service, example and dedication.” During his lifetime as a resident of Orange, Jones has served with honor and distinction in a number of capacities, including as a member of the Orange County Planning Commission (1973-1991) and as chairman of the Orange County Planning Commission from 1982-1991. Jones served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 1992-1999, and was chairman of the board from 1996-1998. Additionally, Jones has been a member of the Orange County Farm Bureau, the Orange-Madison Cooperative Board of Directors, the First Virginia Bank Board of Directors, the Lake Anna Advisory Committee, and the North Pamunkey Baptist Church. Jones was appointed as at-large representative on the RSA in January 1999, and continues to serve the county in that appointment.
