Gordon-Barbour Elementary School
The Singing Bulldogs marched and sang in the Gordonsville Veteran’s Day Parade Saturday, Nov. 8.
The PTO Meeting will be held Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
The PTO will hold a movie night Nov. 14. Food sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and the movie Wall-E will start at 7 p.m.
The Singing Bulldogs will host a spaghetti dinner from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Nov. 15 that will benefit the choral program. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and free for children 4 and under. Tickets will be sold at the door or can be purchased from any chorus member.

Orange County High School
The JV football team finished an undefeated season with a 37-0 win over Fluvanna in the JV championship game. The JV Hornets were 7-0 in the Jefferson District and 11-0 overall. Congratulations to the JV Hornets!!
The cheer squad made it to the final four. The voting process for the semi-final round will continue through Nov. 14. Take the time to vote at http://www.wvaw.tv/sports for the OCHS Cheer Squad.
The Afro-American studies students are working on a research project entitled The Fight for an Equal Education: The Desegregation of Public Schools. The students will learn about primary and secondary resources as well as interviewing children/young adults of the 1960s who lived through the desegregation process.
Prospect Heights Middle School
The Boys Leadership Conference for middle school students was held at Orange County High School Nov. 8. Speakers were Mr. Gene Kotulka, Dr. William Crawford and Mr. Clint Estes. Thank you to Food Lion of Orange for donating the food for the leadership conference.
The bullying prevention kick-off/pep rally was held Nov. 11.
The Girls Leadership Conference for middle school students will be held at Orange County High School Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Locust Grove Elementary School
The PTO will host Turkey Bingo Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
Acting superintendent Mr. Roy Walton was happy to receive framed artwork for his office from the students at Locust Grove Elementary. The art work will hang in Mr. Walton’s office for three weeks and then be returned to the students. The frames will be filled with more creations from the Locust Grove Elementary School Eagle Artists.
Orange Elementary School
Orange Elementary School held a mock presidential election Nov. 3. Each student voted on a paper ballot to get results for the school, and on the computer to add results to a nationwide student poll. Four fifth grade students portrayed the two presidential candidates and the two vice-presidential candidates. They gave speeches to the fourth and fifth grade classes.
Other
The Community Awareness Forum will be held Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at Orange County High School. The forum is free to the public; childcare and food will be provided. Eric Hopwood, Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and Jay Perry, Virginia State Police will present information on gangs while Sue Kell, PhD, Education Director at the Blue Ridge Poison Control Center will present information on prescription drugs. This event is being offered in partnership with the office on youth, Orange County Public Schools, and the sheriff’s office.
