SENIOR FAIR
The Lake of the Woods Church will host a Senior Fair, Friday Oct. 31 from 12-2 p.m. at One Church Lane in LOW.  The Senior Fair is open to seniors in the Locust Grove area. It is designed to enhance the quality of life for seniors. A fried chicken lunch will be served.
There will be speakers from the Rappahannock Area Agency on Aging, LOW Church Chronic Illness Care Group, Dick Brady with Triad, LOW Church Grief Share, LOW Church Stephen Ministry, and representatives from Getty & Associates.

TRUNK OR TREAT
Come join us as we gather for our third annual Trunk or Treat. Unionville Christian and Bethlehem United Methodist Churches will host this event Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. Please come dressed in your best and ready for lots of treats! There will be free hot dogs, chips, drinks, and cupcakes. Donations will be accepted for Sheltering Arms. So come on out and join the fun. For further information call 854-5479.

BARBOURSVILLE BAPTIST TRUNK OR TREAT
Barboursville Baptist Church, at the corner of routes 33 and 20, will host a “TRUNK or Treat” event 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in the church parking lot.  Our church people will give treats from the trunks of their cars to local kids. Everyone is welcome. For more information call (540)832-2815.

NORTH PAMUNKEY TRUNK OR TREAT
North Pamunkey Baptist Church at 15110 Pamunkey Lane will host a Trunk or Treat celebration for kids of all ages Friday, Oct. 31 from 5-8 p.m.  There will be games, activities and goodies for the children.  Grown-ups can play too if they want.  Costumes are welcome and encouraged but not required.  Call 854-4847 for more information.
GORDONSVILLE BAPTIST TRUNK OR TREAT
Gordonsville Baptist Church will host a Trunk or Treat event Friday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the church located at 303 West Gordon Avenue.  This is a safe environment/alternative for children ages 12 and under.

FALL FESTIVAL
The fall festival at the New Hope Baptist Church in Mine Run has been postponed until Nov. 1 due to rain.  The festival will be held Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include a bake sale and yard sale.  There will be BBQ dinners with carry out available at 11 a.m.  Present will be: The Orange Cloggers, the Sheriff’s office for fingerprinting children, the Rescue Squad and Fire Department, music and a moon bounce.  Raffles will be held for a sports bucket, a movie bucket and a replica antique pie safe.

FALL EVENT FOR
FAMILIES
Walker’s United Methodist Church will host “Harvest Moon Hoe-down” Saturday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.  This community outreach event is geared towards families and children and will feature such traditional seasonal activities as bobbing for apples, drinking hot cider and cocoa and roasting marshmallows and hot dogs over an open fire.  There will be a cake walk and a “crazy cow raffle,“ as well as games and activities for children of all ages.  Walker’s UMC is located on Rt. 230 in Madison Mills.  For further details, please call Betty Cole, lay leader of the church, at 672-2546.

LITTLE ZION BAPTIST
Little Zion Baptist Church will sponsor a program on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. The purpose of the program is to help support Sheltering Arms; so if you like praising the Lord in song, prayer and scripture while helping others join us.

PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Prayer for the nation will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church Nov. 1 from 12-6 p.m.  All are welcome.  For more information call Mallie Turner at 672-4152.

PRAISE THROUGH SONG
Union Baptist Church’s Media Ministry, located at 312 Cobb Street in Gordonsville, invites you to come out and enjoy an evening of praise through song. There will be a variety of guests. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2.

MISSIONARY DAY
SERVICE
The Missions Ministry of the Nazareth Baptist Church, Orange will hold its annual Missionary Day service Sunday, Nov. 2 at 3 p.m.  All missionaries are asked to wear white.  The guest preacher will be the Reverend Walter E. Bryant, Pastor of the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Tanners (Madison County).  He will be accompanied by his choir, ushers, missionaries and congregation.  Lunch will be served following the morning worship service in the Dr. N. Howard Stanton Fellowship Hall.  All are cordially invited to join us in this religious service.  The Reverend Dr. Gene T. Lee is the pastor.

APPLES AND ART
A benefit fall festival art show will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gordonsville Presbyterian Church. “Apples & Art” features the work of local artists and includes: acrylics and oils, jewelry, photography, pottery, glass art, church cookbooks and more. Apple desserts, fresh local apples and coffee will be available for sale. Free cider. Proceeds benefit community outreach programs. Gordonsville Presbyterian is located at 406 North Main Street, Gordonsville. The even will be held rain or shine. 832-3504.

FALL FESTIVAL
Gordonsville Baptist Church, located at Gordon Avenue and High Street in Gordonsville, is having their annual Fall Festival and Brunswick stew Saturday, Nov. 8.  The bazaar doors will open at 10 a.m. with homemade Christmas ornaments and lost of miscellaneous handmade craft items and delicious homemade baked goods.  There will also be a white elephant room.  Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. consisting of all you can eat Brunswick stew and all the trimmings including homemade cake or pie.  Cost is $5 for adults and children 12 and under are $3.  Come join us for a great day of fellowship while shopping and enjoying a delicious meal. 

MITCHELLS
PRESBYTERIAN
There will be a steak or pork chop dinner at Mitchells Presbyterian Church Saturday, Nov. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The menu will consist of steak or pork chops (grilled on the grounds by Yoders Market), veggies, homemade desserts, salads, etc. all for $12 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, children 5 and under eat free. WOMEN’S AUXILIARY PLANNING SESSION
The annual planning session and meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary, Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Association, Inc. will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 at Peppers Restaurant located in the Best Western Inn of Culpeper, Rt. 29 South, Culpeper, VA.  Hopefully, members from your “youth department” and pastors will be part of your church/society members attending.  The day’s activities will include registration at 8:30 a.m. with a breakfast buffet at 9 a.m.  Please come early and fellowship with us and help plan the activities for the 2009 year.  Each Missionary Society is asked to send representatives to this meeting.
LAKERS/LAKETTES 9th ANNUAL CONCERT
The Lakers and Lakettes will present their annual concert for Lake of the Woods Church and the community Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the Worship Center - the latest in the LOWC “Making Joyful Noise” concert series.
The very popular men’s sextet and ladies’ quartet will again bring us a mixture of their southern gospel, old pop, rock, patriotic, country and fun songs. Both groups have been hard at work on several old cowboy songs from the old west and that will be the theme of this year’s concert.

MEN’S DAY
Union Baptist Church, Trevilians, will celebrate Men’s Day Sunday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m.  Pastor Timothy Minor of Shiloh Baptist Church, Culpeper, along with his choir and congregation will be the guests for the evening.  “Let’s just praise the Lord.“

‘THE GOSPEL’ TALENT SHOWCASE
Area Youth are invited to showcase their talent in the first “The GOSPEL” Youth Talent Showcase Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.  This event was originally scheduled for Oct. 24.  The location is the Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center, 15044 Ryland Chapel Rd., Rixeyville.  There will be five categories:  Solo, Duo/Group, Dance/Step, Spoken Word, Instrumentalists.  Winners will be awarded trophies as determined by local area judges.  The registration fee is $10/per entry and applications must be received by Nov. 15.  For applications or more information, contact “OCTAVIA” Missy Yates at 540.829.5466 or email:  or .  Applications should be mailed to: ATTN:  “The GOSPEL” Youth Talent Showcase, 19131 Yates Haven Place, Culpeper, VA 22701.  This event is sponsored by the Wayland Blue Ridge Association Youth Department.

CHRISTMAS BAZZAR AND BAKE SALE
The Orange Community Church of Christ is pleased to announce its sixth annual Christmas Bazaar Friday Nov. 21 and Saturday Nov. 22 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. There will be handmade crafts, costume jewelry, decorative items, artificial wreaths, children’s items, mouth blown Christmas ornaments and so much more!!  Donated used toys and other items will also be given away at this time. UNITY CONCERT
The first annual Unity Concert will be held Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Orange County High School Field house.  It will be unforgettable, with neighbors and friends coming together to unite.  The night will begin at 7 p.m. with several local church choirs singing the night away. SPIRITUAL TIDINGS PROGRAM
The Spiritual Tidings Program has served the community for 20 years with Brother Edmond Harrison, Jr., as gospel announcer. UNION BAPTIST CHURCH
Union Baptist Church, Trevillians, is hosting a trip to New York, NY. We will be traveling to New York June 26, 2009 and returning June 28, 2009. Our trip will include a tour of Manhattan, a performance of The Lion King, a trip to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, tour of Ground Zero and shopping.
