The Rev. Doctor Denise Hall, pastor of Orange Presbyterian Church, is celebrating 25 years of ministry this month.
“I was ordained by my home church, the Baptist Temple in Charleston, West Virginia, on June 23, 1983. I started out as a pastor in the American Baptist Churches USA until 1992 when I joined the Presbyterian Church USA.”
Hall has served churches in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and now Virginia.
“I started out as an associate pastor and then moved in lots of different directions. I was a hospital chaplain in Charleston, worked as an aide to a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, and served as the stated clerk of the Presbytery of West Virginia. However, I’ve always found myself returning to serve as the pastor of a local congregation.”
Dr. Hall has served several congregations as pastor and began her ministry at Orange Presbyterian Church in September 2006. “Orange is a nice community and I’m glad I’ve been called to serve this congregation. There are lots of terrific people here. Our mission statement is: ‘to model Christ in all we are and all we do.’ That’s a high calling and we’re seeking to do that together.”
The Orange Presbyterian Church is planning special services to honor Dr. Hall’s anniversary. There will be a special worship service on Sunday, June 29, at 10 a.m. The Rev. Carson Rhyne, General Presbyter of the Presbytery of the James, will preach. There is a covered dish dinner after the service with special recollections to be shared.
Everyone is invited to attend.
