What’s up, Jane?

The rising cost of living,
Is there a price in giving?
You can’t beat God’s giving
But you can try.
What does it cost to stretch out to someone and give them a hug, a smile, a kind word or two, or praise someone for what they do. It takes only a moment and it will be sunshine and special for a long time in some lonely, downhearted person’s life. Things get better if your heart and actions are. Give a hug to your wife, mother or child.
Rev. Gene Lee preached a wonderful sermon on Sunday, Aug. 3, entitled “The Day Jesus Took a Shortcut.“ Had he not, would he have met the woman at the well and told her about herself.
Praise service was uplifting with our pianist Mrs. Norene Mallory’s two grandsons, Blake and Brandon Phillips singing, “I’m Crazy about Jesus” which came about by one of them saying, “You know I’m crazy about Jesus” and Mrs. Mallory put it into a song which was enjoyed by all. Mrs. Louise Morton sang, “God Has Done So Much For Me,“ followed by an old-time hymn, “You Got to Have That True Religion” by Eva Starks in which the congregation joined in.

Birthday celebration
Duff Green, who is a neighbor and friend of Tom Filer and Moses Humes, whose birthday was Aug. 3 and 4, attended a birthday breakfast at the home of Walter and Jane Ware. Also present were Mrs. Pat Filer, Howard and Marlene Ware, Richard Pritchett and Eva Starks. Both birthday guys were much appreciated. I say to them, “Yung No Mo” - God bless.
