Revivals are still going on at several churches: Chestnut Grove, Locust Grove and Shady Grove. Try to attend one of the services and revive your spirit, be fruitful and faithful and ask what shall I render? Ask yourselves, am I grateful? Do I have a made-up mind, remembrance of what God has done for me? Am I giving thanks or praising God enough? Do I know he loves me in spite of all my doings? As a song says, “Get right with God and do it now.“
Healthwise - Having diabetes, you should have several tests done: blood lipids or cholesterol tests, kidney function test, blood pressure check, eye exam and foot exam. All these should be checked twice a year or once a year.
Early Riser -
Want a wakeup call? Set your clock-radio to WJMA and hear the voice of J. D. Slade who has slid right on into country music.

The toughest part of a diet isn’t watching what you eat, it’s watching what other people eat.
Most people gain weight by having intimate dinners for two-alone.
The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then your body and your fat have become good friends.
The biggest seller is cookbooks and the second is diet books about how not to eat what you’ve just learned to cook.
Happy occasions:
Humes-Dawson reunion was held on Aug. 23 at the home of Louie and Nora Humes Poteat of Upper Marlboro, Md. Everyone attended had a fantastic time. Games, riding the pony and big screen movie in the yard and food of all nations was plentiful. Those attending came from Georgia, Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Washington and Maryland and with the family judge, Rev. James Hume from Petersburg, our historian, who presented a cousin with his family tree dated back to the 1800s. The reunion was in memory of Mrs. Annie Mae Dawson.
Nazareth Baptist Church was blessed with a beautiful service on Saturday, Aug. 30, with recording artist Octavia Yates and the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, choir and Bishop Jeremiah Hackley. Mrs. Marlene Ware did a wonderful job as mistress of ceremony.
