“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” Matthew 9:37
“I know thy works, and thy labor and thy patience.” Revelations 2:2
Hats off to:
Crystal Snead Frye, director of the youth choir and youth department of Emanuel Baptist Church, enjoys writing and putting on plays for the youth in which they perform very well. The youth participated in the Fireman’s Parade and won first prize. Mrs. Frye closed her beauty shop early to be one of the teachers at Vacation Bible School. She and the young adults at Emanuel are training the youth as they often say, “The way the late Rev. Charles Davenport taught them.”
Tracie Turner Shelton was given wonderful praise from her pastor, Rev. Tommie Bailey, on a job well done as the coordinator of the Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Charlotte White and Mrs. Flossie Jones are recognized for the service they render at church and to the community. Both sisters are ushers (Ms. Jones is the president) and both sing in the senior and gospel choir (Mrs. White is president). Mrs. Jones spreads herself out to sing in another community choir and is at the nursing home every first Saturday of the month and also transports residents of Sheltering Arms to the hospital. Mrs. White is busy being the president of the culinary committee at the church and both are deaconesses. Mrs. White also babysits several children from ages six months to 13 and takes care of her aunt who is her nineties. They are members of Nazareth Baptist Church in Orange.
Rev. Sherman Collins, Sr. of Wake Forest Baptist Church, Scottsville, preached on “Whose Fault Is It?” relating to why the youth are not in the church today, for the church school ministry at Nazareth Baptist Church June 22.
Don’t forget to visit The Arts Center in Orange to view the amazing yarn paintings of Annie Greene.
