At the Ag Day Farm Tour Oct. 16, fourth-graders from Orange County schools toured facilities at Elmwood Farm in Rapidan and Kenwood Farm in Orange for first-hand demonstrations and activities to help understand local agriculture and industry. Learning stations were set up at both locations. At Kenwood, students learned how baby cows are fed and nurtured, toured a milking parlor, visited the watershed station to see how Virginia’s waterways are affected by events far upstream, and got to see all the different ingredients that go into a dairy cow’s dinner.
