A woman died Sunday as a result of injuries she sustained while skydiving in Orange the day before, Nov. 1, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler.
April Haag, 40, of Lynchburg was involved in a tandem jump with 44-year-old-Douglas Zebley of Virginia Beach, Tyler said. The two were descending back to Orange and experienced a “hard landing.“ Both were taken to UVa Medical Center.
Tyler said Haag died from her injuries at 1:55 p.m., Nov. 2. Zebley’s condition is not known.
This is the second skydiving death at the Orange jump site in the last two months. A Ruckersville man died in September after his parachute became intertwined with another diver’s parachute.
