Bus driver unhappy with route changes

What’s happened to our school system?

Orange isn’t the same? Good!

In response to Mr. Dobyns’ letter to the editor, “Orange just isn’t the same,” I murmur, “Thank goodness!”

Dem candidate to speak in Orange

Man has hand in disasters

Some disasters are at least partially man-made.

Orange just isn’t the same

What happened to my hometown?

Joni us in fight against breast cancer

In the time it takes to read this and make a decision as to how far you will go, another woman will be diagnosed and another will die.

Maintaining campaign promises

The recent board of supervisors election was gratifying in many respects.

Sheltering Arms facing tough times

A single mother with her three young children had sought housing, comfort and food at the shelter. Thin and haggard, she was anxious about her babies.

The “indebted” American people

When “King George” first assumed the throne in January 2001, the national debt was $5.7 trillion, and is now projected to be in excess of $10 trillion, by the time his royal highness abdicates, in January 2009.

Support for off-shore drilling

We can no longer remain silent and contain our anger!

Exchange Hotel still open

We would like to assure everyone that the Civil War Museum at the Exchange Hotel is open as usual and rumors of its closing are untrue.

Consider supporting 4-H Goat Club

Our members are learning leadership and communication skills as they build their own self-confidence. Our members are excited about learning to care for their livestock and beloved pets.

Media misrepresenting market?

Now is the time for headlines to reflect the facts.

Goal is to help local businesses prosper

In response to Mrs. Bergstrom’s letter, she misses one very important point.

New life at Dogwood Village

Triplets were born at Dogwood Village (formerly Orange County Nursing Home and Home for Adults)!

Child care letter lacked for facts

If it’s to draw attention to the cutbacks and express sympathy for those affected, I am aligned with her. If it’s to make the site directors appear lazy and overpaid, I take issue with this.

Big boxes are unnecessary

Sorry Picnic in the Park got rained out

Six months of meetings and planning were washed away in one hour early

Doubtful of what media leads us to believe

Truly, we have become a nation of “fabricators,” with our Commander-in-Chief leading the way!

Tax dollars wasted in Lovelace case

At least two of the aforementioned people should volunteer to resign.

Why the fear of big box stores?

Did they have some sort of traumatic event happen to them when they were young in a Wal-mart?

Explore Pace’s proposal

I encourage the King family and other Orange County supervisors to carefully explore Mrs. Pace’s environmentally-friendly, world-class resort and recreation complex proposal.

Gibson eager to begin council term

Editor’s note: This letter is reprinted from last week’s edition with the correct name.

County wants to cut? Start at the top

I bet Mr. Rolfe didn’t take a pay cut to help with the county budget. Maybe the board of supervisors should cut Mr. Rolfe’s pay and make his job part-time, see how he likes it.

Outgoing councilman offers thanks

Let’s continue to make Orange the place we can all be proud to call home.

Time to rally behind library

Major donors are being sought and grants pursued, but many of these avenues have been explored already, and the county has indicated that only a massive showing of financial support from the community will permit this much-anticipated library to be built.

More on zoning battle

We feel that Orange citizens should be aware of a series of events which have involved at least three levels of county government (including the board of supervisors), and dragged out over two years, that possibly resulted in the expenditure of taxpayer funds during that period.

Gibson eager to begin council term

Please accept this invitation to join us at the meetings and become involved in the issues concerning our town.

Was everyone treated fairly?

I have stayed out of all this because I have always thought this election “stuff” was a tempest in a teapot, which has gotten more press than the recent murder trials.
