Orange just isn’t the same

To the editor,
What happened to my hometown?
I was back in Orange County in June of this year and I see they still have only Food Lion for the people to shop at without going out of town. I think that is a shame for the people who are supposed to be running the town and county. I do believe it is time to change the book and throw the cover away.
The biggest thing I can see is none of the people are ready to work to help the poor people. They are just sitting there, probably with a cup of coffee in their hand, and really don’t care about what is going on.
Another bad thing I read about is the school board who was elected by the people is trying to tell the people what to do.
I do believe if the school board would try to do the job for which it was elected, it would surely have its hands full and more.
Really, the people who are supposed to be in charge have got to start helping the poor people and stop taxing them to death. They should also give the town of Orange back to the people who built it in the first place, the poor people.
The town of Orange used to be self-supporting and Main Street had all types of clothing, furniture and hardware stores, and it also had two drugstores, three grocery stores, Safeway, A&P and Thompson’s and two big feed stores for farmers.
Also the young people had places to go; we had two poolrooms, a bowling alley, a theater and a dance hall on weekends. To keep kids out of trouble, give them something to do. Right?
So, I do hope those elected can understand what I have been saying. Do your job correctly or get off the payroll.
Build more grocery stores and help the poor people to make it.
