The Orange County High School boys tennis team dropped its first match of the season, losing 8-1 to Charlottesville Monday night.
Top seed Rob Johnson earned the Hornets’ only win, beating F. Haar 8-2.
S. Barry beat Michael Kayajanian 8-4.
C. Minor edged Brendon Chambers 9-7.
D. Woodside beat Bobby Chambers 8-1.
W. Dahl edged Braden Jones 8-6.
D. Petterson beat Logan Hanley 8-1.
Things didn’t get any better in doubles for the Hornets, where they were swept by the Black Knights.
The loss puts the Hornets’ record at 3-1 (0-1 Jefferson District). The boys host Fluvanna Thursday at 5 p.m.
The Orange County High School boys tennis team had no trouble with visiting Spotsylvania Thursday, blanking the Knights 9-0.
The win ran the Hornets’ 2008 record to 3-0.
Rob Johnson beat Spotsy’s E. Anderson 10-1 in a matchup of number one seeds.
Michael Kayajanian beat R. Brady 10-0.
Brendon Chambers beat T. McCarmley 10-2, while fourth seed Bobby Chambers shutout T. Reynolds 10-0.
Braden Jones beat Spotsy’s C. Stevens 10-1 in a fifth-seed match-up and Logan Hanley blanked O. Payne 10-0.
In doubles, Kayajanian and Bobby Chambers beat Anderson and McCamley 10-0.
In the closest match of the day, Daniel Hawkins teamed with Shawn Kim to beat Brady and Stevens 11-9.
Evan Garr and Luis Amador beat Payne and Reynolds 10-1.
