Boys drop second straight

The Orange County High School boys tennis team dropped to 5-4 and 2-4 in the district with a 9-0 whitewashing at the hands of Western Albemarle Friday.
The Hornets ran into a buzz saw Thursday, falling to Monticello 8-1.
Orange managed only one win, and that came when top seed Rob Johnson beat the Mustangs’ Nadkarni 10-3.
Grigg beat Kayajanian 10-5 and Cho edged Chambers 11-10 after winning a tiebreaker 8-6.
Diehl beat Garr 10-1 and Rowe downed Amador by the same score. Sikman had little trouble with Upchurch, 10-3.
In doubles, Orange nearly won the top-seeded matchup, but Johnson and Kayajanian fell to Grigg and Diehl 11-9.
Nadkarni and Rowe beat Chambers and Upchurch 10-2 and Cho and Sikman teamed to beat Amador and Breeden 10-3.
The loss dropped the Hornets to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the district.
The Hornets started their run of matches with a 7-2 win over Fluvanna on a windy afternoon in Orange.
Johnson bead G. Goldie 8-3, Kayajanian beat M. Skrobonski 8-4 and Chambers defeated R. Ernst 8-2 as the Hornets swept the top three seeds.
T. Rielly edged Garr 8-6 and C. Soto snuck past Breeden 9-7, but Correa stifled Small 8-1 to give Orange four wins in six singles matches.
Orange swept doubles play. Johnson and Kayajanian beat Goldie and Skrobonski 8-4. Chambers and Upchurch teamed to beat Blanchetti and Ernst 8-3 and Amador and Duncan defeated Rielly and Soto 8-3.
The win improved the Hornets’ overall record to 5-2 and evened their district to 2-2.
