Girls tennis team falls to Chancellor, Louisa

Chelsea Jones and Hillary Bourke won their singles matches but it wasn’t enough to help Orange overtake Louisa Tuesday night.
The Hornets dropped to 2-7 with their loss to the host Lions.
Louisa’s Miranda Donovan beat Brittney Squires 10-2. Jordan Davis beat Orange’s Becca Hanley 10-5. Elizabeth Stevens beat Maria Kotulka 10-4.
In a match-up of fourth seeds, Orange’s Jones beat Rosa-Lee Harkrader 10-2.
Emily Hall beat Erin Chapman 10-3 while Bourke beat Brittany Bishop 10-3.
In doubles play, Squires and Hanley teamed to beat Donnovan and Davis 10-8.
Stevens and Harkrader beat Kotulka and Jones 10-2, while Hall and Bishop beat Orange’s Bourke and Tee Warren 10-3.
The Hornets travel to Western Albemarle Thursday.
The Orange County High School girls tennis team dropped to 2-6 with a 7-2 loss to visiting Chancellor Monday afternoon.
In their first match back from spring break, the Hornet girls struggled with Chargers, winning just one singles match and one doubles match.
At number one singles, Orange’s Brittney Squires lost Meredith Sharp 10-4.
At number two, Becca Hanley fell to Suzanne Sharp 10-3.
In Orange’s only singles win, third seed Maria Kotulka beat Kelsey Bond 10-8.
In a match-up of fourth seeds, Orange’s Chelsea Jones rallied, but fell to Brianna Blacketeer 10-8.
At five, Julie Tobin beat Orange’s Erin Chapman 10-4.
And Treyonn Thomas beat Orange sixth seed Hillary Bourke 10-7.
In doubles play, Sharp and Sharp teamed to beat Squires and Hanley 8-4. Bond and Blacketeer beat Kotulka and Jones 8-3.
Orange’s only other win of the day came when Tee Warren teamed with Bourke to beat Krystina Harte and Rachel Toia 8-3.
