Hornets boys whip Chargers, Lions

The Orange County High School boys tennis team blanked Louisa Tuesday afternoon, running their record to 6-3, 2-3 in the Jefferson District.
The Hornets had little trouble with the Lions, whose closest match was a 10-5 loss in doubles play.
Orange top seed Rob Johnson beat N. White 10-4.
In a match-up of second seeds, Michael Kayajanian beat Louisa’s D. Candeto 10-2.
Brendon Chambers beat J. Sestito 8-4 after Sestito retired early with an injury.
Braden Jones, playing at the four seed, defeated T. Norris 10-4.
Fifth-seeded Logan Hanley shut out D. Hackley 10-0 and Daniel Hawkins whipped L. Beaver 10-2 to round out the singles sweep.
In doubles, Johnson and Kayajanian beat White and Cadeto 10-5.
Chambers and Jones beat Sestito and Norris 10-2.
Hanley and Hawkins blanked Hackley and Beaver 10-0.
The Hornets next host Western Albemarle Thursday evening in Orange.

The Orange County High School boys tennis team had little trouble with Chancellor Monday afternoon, winning 7-2.
The win improved the Hornets’ record to 5-3, though the non-district win didn’t help their 1-3 Jefferson District mark.
The Hornets won five of six singles matches guaranteeing an Orange victory.
Orange top seed Rob Johnson beat Z. Bartley 10-6, while teammate and second seed Michael Kayajanian beat J. Rocha 10-4.
Third-seed Brendon Chambers beat S. Iero 10-2.
Orange fourth seed Bobby Chambers lost to S. Powers 10-5, but Braden Jones won his match over L. Allen 10-4 in a match-up of fifth seeds.
Logan Hanley rounded out singles play with an 11-10 win over F. Brito, taking the tiebreaker 7-4.
In doubles action, Johnson and Kayajanian beat Bartley and Rocha 10-5.
Iero and Powers beat Chambers and Chambers 11-10 (7-3 in the tiebreaker.)
Orange’s Shawn Kim teamed with Daniel Hawkins to beat L. Allen and K. Winestock 10-6 to conclude the match.
