Hornets among top teams in Region II

Last week, the best of the Orange track teams headed to Leesburg to compete in the Region II meet at Heritage High School.
The top six finishers of each event qualified to compete in the Group AA State meet this weekend.
Overall, the girls had a great meet, placing fifth out of 20 teams.
Ashontae Jackson began a very successful meet, coming in second in the 200 and 400 meter dashes.
In the 800 meter run, Nicole Walters was victorious, earning 10 points for her team.
Jackson, Kayla Jones, Lynnie Bresnahan, and Walters made up the 4 x 400 meter relay team that came in second place, earning the right to run that event at the state meet.
In the long jump, Jackson took fifth place.
The boys also had an outstanding meet, coming in fourth out of 19 teams overall.
Kevin Pearson started the meet off right, taking first place in the 100 meter dash and fourth in the 200 meter dash.
Logan Collins won the 800 meter run.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Jeff Carey took first place as well.
Pearson took fourth in the high jump and won the long jump competition.
These athletes travel this weekend to compete in the AA State meet.
