Last Wednesday, the Orange track teams headed to Louisa to compete in the Jefferson District Championship meet.
The top six finishers in each individual event and the top three relay teams advanced to the Region II level.
The girls took second of seven teams in the meet.
In the 100 meter dash, Nichole Givens placed fourth.
Ashontae Jackson set a new school record and won the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.75.
Jackson also won the 400 meter dash, followed by Shakiyla Jenkins in sixth.
Nicole Walters made set another school record by winning the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.04.
In the 1600 meter run, Virginia Peck placed sixth.
Andrea King came in fifth in the 100 meter hurdles.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Lynnie Bresnahan took second.
The 4x100 meter relay team of King, Bresnahan, Shauna Prasse, and Givens qualified for the Region II meet by taking third.
Jackson, N. Walters, Kayla Jones, and Bresnahan won the 4x400 relay.
The 4x800 team of Jones, Peck, Kathryn Baker, and N. Walters also won their relay.
Bresnahan took second in the high jump competition.
Jackson won the long jump competition, followed by Bresnahan in fourth.
Bresnahan took second in the triple jump.
In the shot put event, Erica Nixon came in third.
Bresnahan and Nixon took second and third in the discus throw, respectively.
The boys had a successful day as well, placing fourth out of seven teams overall.
Kevin Pearson won the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
Logan Collins placed second in the 800 meter run.
Collins also took fifth in the 1600 meter run.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Jeff Carey set a new school and district record with an impressive time of 14.57. He was followed by teammate Lamar Gordon in fifth.
Carey also took fifth in the 300 meter hurdles.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Collins, Avery Powell, Nick Talbert, and Chris Lewis took third place.
Pearson placed second in the high jump and long jump.
In the discus throw, Wayne Wright took first place, followed by James Harris in fourth.
Those who qualified traveled to Heritage High School in Leesburg, Virginia to compete in the Region II Championship meet (after presstime).
