Orange tennis boys split district matches

The Orange County High School boys tennis team had little trouble with Fluvanna Friday, beating the Flucos 8-1.
The Hornets won five of six singles matches to improve to 7-5 overall and 3-5 in the Jefferson District.
Top seed Rob Johnson defeated Fluvanna’s M. Ballard 8-1.
Second seed Michael Kayajanian beat M. Strobanski 8-1.
Fluvanna’s J. Williams edged Orange’s Brendon Chambers 9-8, taking the tiebreaker 7-5.
Braden Jones beat J. Hessler 8-6, while fifth seed Logan Hanley defeated T. Rielly 8-3.
Orange sixth seed Daniel Hawkins finished out singles play with an 8-5 win over R. Ernst.
In doubles, Orange’s Johnson and Kayajanian beat Ballard and Williams 8-4.
Chambers and Jones beat Strobanski and Hessler 8-6.
Hanley and Hawkins beat Rielly and Fields 8-5.
The boys’ match with King George Monday was rained out.
The Hornets will next face Charlottesville Tuesday in Orange.
The boys traveled to Monticello Thursday and came home with a 7-2 loss, dropping their record to 6-5 overall and 2-5 in district play.
The Hornets won one singles match and one doubles match in an otherwise disappointing day.
Diehl beat Rob Johnson 10-6 in a match-up of top seeds.
Nadkarni beat Michael Kayajanian 10-2 at number two.
Brendon Chambers earned Orange’s lone singles win beating the Mustangs’ Sikman 10-5.
Grigg beat Braden Jones at the four seed 10-3.
Logan Hanley lost his match with Monticello’s Cho 10-3, while Daniel Hawkins fell to Andrachyn 10-1.
In doubles play, Diehl and Nadkarni teamed to beat Johnson and Kayajanian 10-3.
Chambers and Jones beat Oh and Cho 10-2 for Orange’s only doubles victory.
Sikman and Andrechyn beat Hanley and Hawkins 10-1.
